Beni Ourain rugs are traditional Berber rugs made by the Beni Ourain tribes that live in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Deep in the Atlas Mountains roam an ancient breed of smaller sheep that produce a very soft long hair high quality wool. The yarns are woven in the signature geometric designs with dark brown lines and graphic shapes on a natural undyed cream background. The lines and symbols tell the story of the weaver's life, typically women, referencing natural events and aspects of daily life. The stories of birth, fertility, nature, and feminity connect us to the long history of the nomatic Berber tribes.
